    White Wine

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc - Since the early 1990s, Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand’s flagship wine has been the benchmark style for the varietal throughout the world. Its exhilarating, pungent flavours and generally herbaceous aromas make it the choice of wine lovers the world over. From humble beginnings in a single Auckland vineyard in the 1970s to now being the second most widely planted varietal in the country, Sauvignon Blanc is firmly rooted in New Zealand’s wine culture.
This New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a vineyard on the country’s South Island. Southern Sauvignon Blanc styles are typically lighter and crisper with passion fruit and other pungent fruit flavours as well as red pepper, gooseberry and herbal characters. The longer, cooler growing conditions in the Southern regions promotes stronger and more vibrant fruit flavours together with higher acidity levels. The South Island’s low rainfall during ripening helps protect the thin-skinned and tight-clustered bunches of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from developing botrytis and other fungal diseases. The Island’s free-draining, stony soils help grape growers to control the growth of this vigorous vine for optimum quality.

General Structure – Dry white wine, good acidity and great balance. Medium in body with flavours of tropical fruit, canned peas, citrus and herbal notes. Nice lengthy finish!

Aroma – The bouquet is a combination of herbaceous aromas and hints of citrus.

Colour – Brilliant yellow straw.
Food Pairing - White fish especially when served with citrus or garlic based sauces. Crunchy summer salads, fresh tomato based pastas and goat cheese.

    Red Wine

California 'Old Vine' Zinfandel - The term “Old Vines” indicates that the most rich, intense and multi-dimensional zinfandel grapes are picked from vines that are at least 50 years old. “Old Vines” are in decline, mature in age, with low vigour. These vines tend to produce fewer clusters of grapes with berries that are smaller in size, yielding more intense sugars, colour and concentration of flavours, producing wines that are generally better balanced with more body and structure.
The soil and climate of Central California plays an important role in the character and style of wines from Old Vine Vineyards. The longer, drier growing season allows the grapes to “hang” longer on the vine, giving the pH and acid time to balance. This results in a wine with a longer, smoother finish. The deep, sandy loam soils enable the vines’ roots to grow deep and absorb moisture from below. Little water is needed, if at all, enhancing the color and flavor in the grapes.

General Structure – Dry, rich and ultra-ripe. Medium to full-bodied with intense flavours of cherry, raspberry and dried-fruit. Soft and easy drinking with a lengthy finish.

Aroma – Ripe red berry fruit.

Colour – Deep, dark crimson red.

Food Pairing – Tomato-based pastas or grilled red meats with saucy barbeque garnishes.

    Specialty Wine

Strawberry Cabernet Franc Icevine - Fresh, juicy strawberries combine with the full-bodied Cabernet Franc to create a sweet dessert wine with flavours of candied fruit. Made in the likeness of a red ice wine, the KenRidge Strawberry Cabernet Franc Ice Vine offers similar qualities such as sweet and concentrated red-berry flavours that that finish sweet and sultry. Cabernet Franc is often used for this frozen treat because the variety is hardy enough to withstand the sub-zero temperatures it must withstand in order to make a true ice wine. Cabernet Franc is often used in blended table wines with other full-bodied reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On its own, Cabernet Franc exudes flavours of red berries, cassis and violets.

General Structure – Luscious strawberries, delicate yet complex spice and rhubarb with fresh limes on a lingering finish.

Aroma – Bold, ripe strawberries, complex notes of spice and sweetness of rhubarb.

Colour – Rosé to light Strawberry red, the colour of pink candy.

Food Pairing – On its own as an aperitif or with red fruit based desserts and dark chocolate.
